DELF Diplôme d'Études de la Langue Française

A certification of French-language abilities for non-native speakers of French administered by the International Centre for French Studies (Centre international d'études pédagogiques, or CIEP) for France's Ministry of Education. It is made up of four separate diplomas corresponding to the first four levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: A1, A2, B1 and B2.

DELF Junior Diplôme d’Etudes de la Langue Française

The DELF Junior is a specially adapted version of the DELF diplomas for young people aged from 12 to 17 years. It is also open to all young French citizens who reside in a non-francophone country and who are schooled in local institutions.

The junior version of DELF has the same structure as the standard DELF (Diplôme Elémentaire de Langue Française/Diploma in French language). Only the topics are different: the materials take into account the interests of young people. Note that it can only be taken by children of secondary-level age. The diploma awarded is internationally recognised and valid for life.

DELF Prim Diplôme d’Etudes de la Langue Française

The DELF Prim is the first grade in the DELF series of diplomas in French as a foreign language from the French Ministry of Education.

The DELF Prim is aimed at all children aged from 8 to 11 years who are beginners in French. It entitles them to be issued with a diploma which is identical to the DELF and DELF Junior. These diplomas are internationally recognised and valid for life.

The tests are developed according to the same model as the adult version of the DELF, but the topics are adapted to young students beginning to learn French as a foreign language. At each level, 4 skills are assessed: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

TCF Test de Connaissance du Français

TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français) is a language placement test for non-native speakers of French. It is required if you want to apply at French universities, if you want to submit an immigration application at a Quebec immigration office, or for anybody who wants to have their French language skills assessed to apply for French nationality.
