DELF Certificate

DELF Certificate

Do you need to pass a diploma or a test to certify your knowledge of French?

The Alliance Française de Jersey is accredited to conduct all the diplomas issued by the French Ministry of Education!

DELF/DELF Pro/DALF

The DELF (Diplôme Elémentaire de Langue Française/Diploma in French language) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française/Advanced Diploma in French language) are issued by the French Ministry of Education.

They are divided into six diplomas corresponding to the six-level scale of the Common European Reference Framework for Languages.

The DELF and DALF are designed to assess the communicative skills of a candidate in a real situation, using authentic documents, and to evaluate know-how (writing a letter, asking for information, exchanging opinions) rather than the linguistic and formal grammatical knowledge.

The six diplomas (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2) that make up DELF and DALF are completely independent. This means that candidates can register for the examination of their choice, according to their level.
At each level, 4 skills are evaluated: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Each diploma is internationally recognised and valid for life. Note that the DELF B2 and DALF C1 allow foreign students to validate admission into a French university.

DELF Junior

The DELF Junior is a specially adapted version of the DELF diplomas for young people aged from 12 to 17 years. It is also open to all young French citizens who reside in a non-francophone country and who are schooled in local institutions.

The junior version of DELF has the same structure as the standard DELF (Diplôme Elémentaire de Langue Française/Diploma in French language). Only the topics are different: the materials take into account the interests of young people. Note that it can only be taken by children of secondary-level age. The diploma awarded is internationally recognised and valid for life.

There are four different diplomas:

  • DELF A1 & A2 for basic-level users
  • DELF B1 & B2 for independent users

At each level, 4 skills are evaluated: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
