The Alliance Francaise de Jersey is very proud of its most ambitious multi-cultural event to date. Since the earthquake in 2010, Haiti is world famous but unfortunately for the wrong reasons. The situation is still very difficult for its inhabitants riddled with extreme poverty and disease.
To remobilise Jersey’s minds on Haiti great needs in terms of international solidarity, the Alliance Francaise is programming a series of events to commemorate this very sad anniversary. For three weeks, the photographic works of Christine Finn will be exhibited in the premises of the Alliance Francaise at 5 Library Place, and we encourage you to visit us to admire this magnificent testimony of the courage and solidarity between the Haitian population and international social workers.
The opening night of the exhibition is scheduled from 5.30pm on Monday 23rd February (to which you are all invited).
It will be followed by a conference at the Societe Jersiaise from 7.00pm on Thursday 5th March by the Haiti Kids Kino Project.
Finally, it will be concluded by a Haiti themed edition of our Cine-Club from 6.00pm on Friday 13th March, showing the masterpiece of one of the rare Haiti movie directors Raoul Peck.
Please do pass the word around you as we need you to make this event a success both in terms of frequentation and of people’s awareness.
