Mood Indigo is yet another artistic and public success from international maverick and uniquely talented director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Science of Sleep, and Green Hornet).
Wealthy, inventive bachelor Colin endeavours to find a cure for his lover Chloe after she’s diagnosed with an unusual illness caused by a flower growing in her lungs.
This time Gondry is back home in France to adapt one of his favourite novel, “L’écume des jours” by Boris Vian which is the work of art who got him into creativity as an adolescent as well a real French modern literature classic (despite being all but classic).
For this very personal film, he secured two of the biggest French stars, Audrey Tautou (Amelie) and Romain Duris (Heartbreaker) who both really shine in the movie. His quirky world, unstoppable imagination and surreal art of stop motion is absolutely perfect to adapt Vian’s original and eccentric prose and universe. Expect a really touching and at times tragic love story set in a zany Parisian background.
