« Show me what you wear and I will tell you who you are », one could say. Fashion is universal, it appeals to all of us, men and women, from all over the world. It says so much about who we are : whether we intentionaly wear something fashionable or not, choices for colour, fabric and style are made by all of us on a daily basis.

This exhibition portrays people and how they dress on the five continents, thus giving us to see a broad diversity of fashion and styles. The eyes of the photographers also tell us about different looks over fashion.

« Dress codes refer to particular meanings according to the situation : symbol of identity, tool for differenciation, focus on tradition, taste matter : dressing comes under important contemporary issues ». Bertrand Commelin, Fondation Alliance Française

« In all societies and civilisations, there is a tradition of clothing for each occasion, an expression of living together and a way to show up. The photographs of the traditional outfit worn at the Volambetoaka in Madagascar illustrate well this idea. »
